About New England Farms

New England Farms is a family owned and operated farm located in the valley between the Adirondack Mountains of New York and the Green Mountains of Vermont.

Our family is involved in local agriculture and we support local farmers. We are members of the Upper Hudson Maple Producers Association, the New York State Maple Producers Association, the Vermont Maple Producers Association, the Southern Adirondack Beekeepers Association, the Vermont Beekeepers Association, the Eastern Apiary Society, the American Pastured Poultry Association, the Biodynamic Farm & Gardening Association, the New York Farm Bureau, New York Organic Farm Association and Pride of New York.

Our daughter, Gina was elected the Upper Hudson maple Producers Association for three years, 2004-2006.

We have been Certified Naturally Grown for our Maple Products, Honey, Eggs and Poultry.

When we acquired our farm we really did not have the intention to farm on a large scale. But as time went by the 100 maple buckets evolved into a very modern 2200 tap sugarbush on vacuum.

Twenty chickens turned into 300 organic hens with eggs being shipped hundred of miles to specialty food stores. Thirty Quail grew to 350 organically raised birds.

As the farm expanded, the need for supplies and equipment also increased. The trip to the big city for supplies got old pretty quick. In order to cut costs we started to buy in bulk. Neighboring farmers started to come over to buy from our bulk surplus. The basis for a farm supply was born.

We started to buy in bulk with the intent to sell to local farmers. Soon we outgrew the barn. A friend of the family was closing his print shop and offered to sell the property to us. So we bought a 6,000 square foot building on Main Street in Granville New York about 50 yards from Vermont. It took about a year to clean out the old warehouse, upgrade the utilities and get ready for business.

New England Farms opened on November 11, 2006. We had a Super Maple supply sale, free lunch, a seminar taught by Glen Goodrich and invited the Maple Queens. A great time was had by all and the ice was broken and the magic carpet ride started.

Since then we have added a complete line of Certified Organic feeds from Green Mountain Organic Feed and Cold Springs Farm. We also offer a conventional line of Green Mountain Feeds from their Depot Feed location.

We now stock six different brands of Holistic & Organic pet foods as well as pet supplies and recently added the Diamond Pet Food line of Chicken Soup for the Soul Dog and Cat food.

Because we produce organic poultry we stock a wide selection of poultry supplies and feeds. We will be producing chicken tractors this spring so you do have to spend time building them yourself. We will have day old chick for sale as well as offering a service to care for your chicks the first few weeks of life in our brooding house.

From fencing supplies to water troughs we can bring what you need to care for livestock.

Our maple showroom is open year round, not just for maple season.

We continue to add new lines of equipment and the most recent technologies available.

Currently we represent Goodrich, CDL Maple-Pro, Leader Evaporator, Dominion & Grimm, Darveau, Lapierre and Marcland-USA.

Our beekeeping department is now open and offers products and supplies that we manufacture as well as excellent supplies and equipment from Brushy Mountain Bee Farm, Betterbee and Humble Abodes Woodenware.

We have been conducting research in our apiaries using the African Top Bar Hives. We have developed our own design and related equipment which has gone into production and will be available in our showroom in the near future.

At New England Farms we use an organic methodology and approach to beekeeping. We consider our bees livestock and not just insects. Our management plan uses no pesticides or pharmaceuticals in our apiaries and we operate within the guidelines set forth in the Certified
Naturally Grown policies and procedures in order to maintain our certification.

As we continue to add new lines of equipment and expand we will always focus on customer service and you have our pledge to seek out the finest feeds and equipment to assist you in your agricultural endeavor.

Feel free to follow the trail to New England Farms, take a look at our showroom and warehouse. See ya soon.
